Music Scholarships

Band Scholarships

  • Music Major – Lion’s Band and Drum Corps Scholarship: 100% tuition plus up to 100% Room and Board
  • Non-major –  Lion’s Band and Drum Corps Scholarship: 100% tuition plus up to 50% Room and Board
  • Resident Musician: 75 – 100% tuition
  • Commuter Musician: 75 – 100% tuition
  • Drum Major Scholarships: 100% tuition plus up to 100% Room and Board 
  • Band Crew Scholarship: 100% tuition
  • Section Leader, Captain Scholarship: $150
  • Stage Band Musician, Steel Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Colorguard: up to $300 per ensemble
  • Pep Band Scholarship: up to  $300 (Spring Only)
  • Color Guard Scholarship: 75 – 100% tuition
  • Red Line Scholarship: 75 – 100% tuition
    • 75% tuition scholarships will be awarded to any alternate performer. 

Other Scholarships

  • Red Line: 75 – 100% tuition
  • Stage Band Vocalist: $300 (Fall & Spring)
  • Stage Band Dancer: $300 (Fall & Spring)
  • Choir: up to $500

Scholarship Audition Requirements

Brass & Woodwind Scholarship Audition Requirements

  • 5 major scales (Student’s choice, 2 octaves where appropriate.)
  • Chromatic scale
  • A 1-2 minute prepared piece that demonstrates your best qualities as a musician
  • Sight reading

 

Percussion Scholarship Audition Requirements

Percussionists are encouraged to audition on multiple instruments, but this is not required.

  • Snare Drum
    • 5 rudiments (Student’s choice, Open-Closed-Open)
    • Long Roll
    • A 1-2 minute prepared piece (on concert or marching snare) that demonstrates your best qualities as a musician
    • Sight reading
  • Mallet Percussion
    • Same as Brass & Woodwind requirements
  • Timpani
    • Etude or solo
  • Percussionists must also be placed successfully on the drumline to receive a scholarship award.
  • The 2026 Big Bear Drumline audition schedule will be announced in January 2026.
