ADN Program Information

Program Mission

 

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program supports the mission and goals of the college. The ADN program is designed to provide educational opportunities to qualified students for a career as registered nurses, thereby helping to meet the expanding healthcare needs of the community. Our goal is to prepare individuals to give client care in beginning staff level positions as providers of care, managers of care, and members within the discipline of nursing and interdisciplinary team.

 

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Assume the role of the RN in providing client centered care by developing and integrating an individualized plan of care ensuring care is age and culturally appropriate, based on needs, preferences, and values.
  2. Function as a productive member of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure continuity of client care and achieve positive client outcomes.
  3. Utilize best current evidence to support clinical reasoning in providing client centered care.
  4. Participate in the monitoring of quality improvement methods in the delivery of client centered care.
  5. Practice nursing with regard to client, self, and others to promote safety and reduce errors in diverse settings while integrating age specific competencies.
  6. Utilize technology and advanced technology securely to deliver safe, quality client centered care and to optimize client centered outcomes.
  7. Utilize work unit systems in providing resources in the deliver of safe, effective, and efficient client centered care.
  8. Practice nursing within the legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines of nursing assuming responsibility for the outcomes of nursing care given by self and/or delegated to others while assuming the responsibility for professional growth and responsible behavior.
  9. Use critical thinking processes and clinical reasoning to provide leadership that directs others in the provision of safe client centered care.
  10. Communicate effectively with clients across the lifespan and with members of the interdisciplinary health care team valuing cultural and personal diversity using written, verbal, nonverbal, and electronic modalities.
