Concert Band

The Ensemble

The Southwest Mississippi Community College Concert Band is a spring semester ensemble that specializes in wind and percussion instrumental literature, the majority of which has been written in the past 100 hundred years. This academic ensemble presents music from a historical perspective as well as modern works written specifically for the collegiate wind ensemble.

The Show

The Concert Band always presents a spring program in conjunction with the SMCC Choir. This year there will be few chamber ensembles including a brass choir, woodwind ensemble and percussion ensembles. This concert is entirely student focused and demonstrates a program of the highest quality.

The Spring Recruitment Tour

The Concert band will visit several high schools in-district to preform for prospective students both at the middle school and high school levels. Getting our students to play for our prospective students is the best recruitment tool we have. Our students have fun with what they do and we like to show others how fun things are at Southwest!

The Sacred Concert Tour

The second annual sacred concert tour will present the SMCC concert choir and concert band at two local churches; Centenary United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church, Summit. This tour presents classic sacred literature that is traditionally used in choral and wind band arrangements./p>
